Lake Taupo is a huge lake filled with crystal clear water and world famous trophy-sized trout. Created thousands of years ago by one of history‘s greatest volcanic eruptions, Lake Taupo is enormous, impressive, beautiful and Australasia's largest. To the south we have the majestic volcanoes of the world heritage Tongariro National Park, the stunning alpine rivers and native forest clad Kaimanawa Forest Park to the South East, beautiful remote bays of Lake Taupo to the West and the famous Huka Falls and Wairakei Geothermal areas to the North. Further north HELiPRO hold exclusive landing rights on Mt Tarawera, site of the largest volcanic eruption in our living memory. HELiPRO also have a concession to land on the iconic White Island, which is just over 1 hours flying North East of Taupo.

HELiPRO helicopters are the key to unlocking all the amazing activities within the area. Whether flight seeing, remote wilderness fly fishing in rivers such as the famous Rangitikei, heli hiking, heli golfing, or flying to several famous Hawkes Bay Vineyards for a relaxing afternoon tasting fine New Zealand wines and superb local cuisine, HELiPRO will deliver.

Summer time in Taupo is the dry fly fisherman's Mecca. The tributary streams will still produce smaller fish to a well presented dry fly but most often the action is in the hills to the east of Lake Taupo.
The helicopter has opened up the rivers of the Kaweka, Kaimanawa and Urewera ranges to the fly fishermen. Such rivers as the Ngaruroro, Rangitikei, Mohaka, Raukituri and Waiau, to name just a few, produce brown and rainbow trout of trophy size.
The 'double figured' Rainbow and Brown trout can be sighted in the crystal clear streams, challenging your skills with either a dry-fly, nymph or light spinning tackle. Our experienced guides will provide you with the local knowledge for the angling experience of a lifetime. 'Catch and release' is the practice, however there are always great photo opportunities.
Your helicopter provides a return mountain & lake scenic flight, covering some of the most spectacular Central North Island high country and river scenery.
